Images that look like the world but aren’t. A world that no longer arrives in its original form.
About the Series
The grid in these images is created by the traces left by the devices through which what was seen passed. Each stage leaves its own layer; only when superimposed do they form the image. The source material consists of the artist’s own photographs—views that recur in his life: the landscape of his origins, the journey to the city, a courtyard in Vienna, and an outdoor café in Milan from 2019. The question of how far we can trust images is directed here not at images created by others, but at our own memories, which return to us only through devices. From a distance, the image appears clean and credible. Up close, it becomes clear what digital images are made of.
